Making the movement, the case and the bracelet

Patek Philippe Workshop

In-house Production of all the watch components

Patek Philippe is among the very few watchmaking companies in Switzerland that master all manufacturing steps from development to final assembly, including the in-house production of movements, cases, and bracelets.

Superior quality in production calls for the finest tools and skills, but also for a blend of latest-generation technology combined with a long-term experience in traditional craftmanship.

The components are made using cutting-edge technologies, decorated and hand-finished, in compliance with the age-old Geneva tradition.

The craftsmen at Patek Philippe exercise great patience as they polish every single tooth of each steel pinion and wheel with a beech wood disc, burnish each and every pivot, and chamfer all sharp edges. It is the legendary virtuosity of master craftsmen, handed down from generation to generation, that constitutes the heart and soul of Patek Philippe watches.

The production of a single movement's components, depending on its complexity, requires the expertise of highly skilled people and involves 1'200 to 1'500 individual steps.
