The Art of Watches Grand Exhibition New York 2017

“The Art of Watches Grand Exhibition New York 2017” that took place from July 13 to 23, 2017, was a huge success. Some 27,500 visitors convened at Cipriani 42nd Street to cast a backstage glance at the last independent, family-owned watch manufacturing company – almost as if they had been magically beamed to the interiors of the historic salons on Rue du Rhône, the manufacture in Plan-les-Ouates, and the Patek Philippe Museum in Geneva.

The event gave the public the opportunity to admire 450 timepieces, among them 128 exhibits that by exception were on loan from the Patek Philippe Museum, and a selection of historic timepieces with USA-related backgrounds. For the exhibition, Patek Philippe also created 9 limited editions, including a World Time Minute Repeater that had its global debut in New York, as well as 17 Rare Handcrafts creations (pocket watches, wristwatches, and dome table clocks) that pay tribute to America and New York.

“The Art of Watches Grand Exhibition New York 2017” took nearly 2 years of preparatory work. The assembly of the structure alone, spanning 13,000 square feet on two levels, lasted twelve days; it was the first time that a pavilion of this size was accommodated inside the Cipriani. By organizing this major event in New York, Patek Philippe reaffirmed the very close relationships with the United States, one of the most important markets for the manufacture since it was founded.

“Open now, the Patek Philippe Art of Watches Grand Exhibition surpasses expectations.“

Forbes (US), Roberta Naas

“The idea of the Watch Art Exhibition with 450 exhibiting pieces goes further: it consists of literally transferring the manufacture, the salons and the museum.”
