Patek Philippe’s commitment to International Customer Service is best expressed by our pledge to service, repair, or restore any Patek Philippe timepiece regardless of its age.

We truly believe that the knowledge required for servicing, repairing and restoring our watches is equally as important as the skill required to craft new watches.

That is why all servicing is completed exclusively by our personally trained and certified watchmakers.

“As a family-owned watch company, we are committed to restoring and maintaining all our watches. Including those made in 1839.”

A commitment to lifelong servicing and restoration

The Patek Philippe Seal

Our unwavering commitment to excellence is embodied in the Patek Philippe Seal, a recognised standard of lifelong service and restoration.

The Seal represents a strict set of criteria, focused on quality and applicable to all mechanical timepieces. This emblem of horological excellence represents the leading standard of the Swiss watch industry.

Maintaining standards of excellence through our after-sales service network

It is with a great level of responsibility that the master watchmakers of Patek Philippe’s International Customer receive each and every watch.

They are, after all, fully aware that Patek Philippe’s history is passing through their hands. And alongside it, the traditions, values and reputation of the company.

In order to maintain the Patek Philippe standards of excellence, all watchmakers in the Global International Customer Service network are continuously trained by Patek Philippe Geneva.

The Patek Philippe watchmaker training program is structured by stages of complexity. Starting with basic skills at the point of sale, such as changing the battery in one of our Quartz watches, to the development of expert skills necessary to adeptly service hand-wound and automatic watches.

To reach the most advanced level of the program, our watchmakers will train for at least 10-12 years at Patek Philippe alone. Mandatory refresher courses are required every four years.

Each watchmaker treats every watch with the care it deserves, holding true to the belief that a Patek Philippe watch is to be passed from one generation to the next.

Watchmaker Training Institutes

In 2013, Patek Philippe established its first independent regional training institute in Shanghai, dedicated to after-sales watch repair for North Asia.

Institutes in New York, Geneva and Singapore soon followed.

These centers offer a comprehensive two-year, four-stage apprenticeship program for candidates without any previous watchmaking experience.

After-Sales Service Polishing Institute

In 2017, the Patek Philippe Polishing Institute was opened in Geneva.

This Institute is solely dedicated to the highly skilled craft of after-sales polishing, where polishers are trained in a 16-month, five stage program to master Patek Philippe’s watch-finishing requirements.

Craftsmanship and Precision Competition

In 2010, Patek Philippe, launched the highly revered bi-annual ‘Concours Bienfacture et Précision’ (Craftsmanship and Precision Competition).

The event was established to inspire up and coming generations of watchmakers in Swiss watchmaking schools.

2

Importance of maintenance

A Patek Philippe watch is designed to be handed down from generation to generation.

For this reason - whether your timepiece needs to be repaired, restored or entirely overhauled - servicing a Patek Philippe timepiece regularly is essential to ensure its longevity. We recommend every 3-5 years or whenever necessary.

Only authorized Patek Philippe Service Centers are able to comply with the extremely strict quality criteria set by the Manufacture.

3

Servicing

Full maintenance of a Patek Philippe watch requires the diligence, expertise and skill of our specialist watchmakers.

This may take between 6 and 12 weeks, depending on the model, the complexity of the movement, and the number of specialist interventions required.

Timepieces in the Grand Complications collection are returned to Patek Philippe Geneva to be serviced by the master watchmakers‘ division where they were created.

4

Restoration

Vintage watches, generally considered to be over 35 years old or timepieces dating back to the 19th century, are returned to the principal restoration team in Geneva.

Their objective is to preserve and maintain the original condition of a timepiece, both technically and aesthetically. Restoration requires highly specialized skills and techniques that are increasingly rare today.

Given the complexity, the inherent rarity and the skills required, the restoration process can take up to two years.

5

Authorized Service Centers

Patek Philippe’s worldwide network of Authorized Service Centers have been established to ensure and protect the quality and savoir-faire associated with the Manufacture’s watches and to the stringent criteria set by Patek Philippe Geneva.

Only the Authorized Service Centers can properly service a Patek Philippe timepiece. Please contact an Authorised Retailer if you are uncertain of the nearest Service Center.
