Dome table clock in cloisonné enamel.
Clematis, queen of climbing plants, displays her abundant blooms and decorative colors on this unique piece in Grand Feu cloisonné enamel.
The characteristic shapes of the flowers and leaves were outlined using 23.2 m of gold wire (46.4 g) measuring 0.2 x 0.6 mm in crosssection. To reproduce every nuance of the clematis and its background of sky the enameler then worked with a palette of transparent and opalescent enamels in 11 colors, superimposing different hues or shading from dark to light. Each enameled plate required between 9 and 12 firings at temperatures exceeding 900°C. An hour circle adorned with black-enameled Breguet numerals frames a dial center hand-guilloched beneath mauve enamel matched to the color of the flowers. Skeletonized leaf-shaped hands point to the time.
This piece is powered by the caliber 17’’’ PEND mechanical movement rewound by an electric motor.
