Dome table clock in cloisonné enamel.
A cascade of flowers in delicate hues – roses, carnations, lilies and more – brings its freshness and finesse to this unique piece in Grand Feu cloisonné enamel.
Creating the contours of this intricate composition of flowers, calyxes, petals and pistils required 25.5 m of gold wire (50.9 g) measuring 0.2 x 0.6 mm in cross-section, which the artist shaped by hand and fixed onto the base plate. To bring out the subtle tints of the flowers and the sky, he worked with a palette of transparent, opaque and opalescent enamels in a remarkable 49 colors, creating a relief effect by skillful shading. Each enameled plate called for 7 to 10 firings at a temperature of 890°C. The hour circle in mother-of-pearl, framing a cloisonné enamel dial center, is adorned with applied Breguet numerals. The leaf-shaped hands also have inlays of mother of pearl – whose luster complements the floral theme.
This piece is powered by the caliber 17’’’ PEND mechanical movement rewound by an electric motor.
