Dome table clock in cloisonné enamel.
Vibrant colors, exotic shapes: all the exuberance of the most beautiful tropical flowers illuminates this unique piece in Grand Feu cloisonné enamel – one of the precious handcrafts that Patek Philippe perpetuates generation after generation.
The intricate contours of the tendrils, leaves and petals required 23.3 m of yellow-gold wire (46.8 g) measuring 0.2 x 0.6 mm in cross-section, which the enameler shaped by hand to follow every angle and curve. Capturing the flamboyance of the tropical colors called for a palette of transparent, opaque and opalescent enamels in 24 shades, predominantly reds, mauves and pinks. Each enameled plate underwent 12 firings at a temperature of approximately 900°C – and each firing entailed the risk of destroying all work up to that point. An hour circle adorned with black enameled Breguet numerals frames a dial center in cloisonné enamel.
This piece is powered by the caliber 17’’’ PEND mechanical movement rewound by an electric motor.
