Pocket watch with wood marquetry and hand-engraving.
A stag nibbling on twigs decorates the back of this unique piece in yellow gold. The moment has been captured in wood marquetry, a technique rarely used in watchmaking.
To bring the picture to life in all its fine detail, the marquetry-maker cut out and assembled 170 pieces of veneer and 70 inlays, chosen from 17 species of wood of different textures, veining and colors. The bezel, the bow and the border of the case back are hand-engraved with a leaf motif requiring 120 hours of work. The dial in green-tinted burr ash presents yellow-gold applied Breguet numerals and yellow-gold hands, the latter hand-engraved. A light-green tourmaline cabochon (0.26 ct) adorns the crown.
This pocket watch is accompanied by a yellow-gold handcrafted stand with individually fashioned and engraved leaves, on an oval-shaped base in white spangled marble set with a light-green tourmaline cabochon (0.30 ct).
It houses the caliber 17’’’ LEP PS manually wound movement with small seconds.
