Dome table clock in cloisonné enamel enriched with silver paillons。

The Galápagos Islands, a province of Ecuador and a UNESCO World Heritage Site national park and marine reserve, inspired the decoration of this unique piece in Grand Feu cloisonné enamel。

To create the outlines of the volcanic landscape and its flora, such as prickly pears, and incredible fauna, including iguanas, crabs, sea lions, blue-footed boobies and flying fish, the enameler used 12.5 m of gold wire (25 g) measuring 0.2 x 0.6 mm in cross-section. The chromatic splendor of this wilderness required an exceptionally rich palette of transparent, opaque and opalescent enamels in 61 colors. The Pacific Ocean owes its dancing reflections to silver spangles called paillons embedded in the waves. Each enameled plate called for between 8 and 11 firings at a temperature of 890ºC. An hour circle adorned with applied baton-style hour markers frames a dial center in cloisonné enamel。

This piece is powered by the caliber 17’’’ PEND mechanical movement rewound by an electric motor。
