A work by the Austrian painter Friedrich Gauermann (1807–1862) inspired the Grand Feu miniature painting on enamel adorning the back of this unique piece. Glowing beneath a finish of transparent flux particular to the Geneva technique, the miniature depicts a pastoral scene on the shores of the Königssee in the Bavarian Alps。

The artist built up his picture in small deft touches on a ground of opaque white enamel, using 18 enamel colors made of finely crushed metallic oxides mixed with rare oils. This delicate procedure, requiring exceptional skill, sometimes called for the use of a brush composed of a single hair. It included 35 firings at temperatures ranging from 800°C to 830°C, each of which could have ruined all the work up to that point. The dial, in white enamel over yellow gold, is adorned with yellow-gold applied Breguet numerals. A pale-green tourmaline cabochon (0.35 ct) decorates the crown。

This pocket watch is accompanied by a handcrafted yellow-gold stand on a grey-veined white marble base。

It houses the caliber 17’’’ LEP PS manually wound movement with small seconds。
