Dome table clock in cloisonné enamel. Tribute to the Peranakans, the Straits-born Chinese settlers of former British Crown colony Malacca, and drawing on their vibrant art. Design of roses and geometric figures outlined using more than 28 m of 0.2 x 0.6 mm gold wire (weight 53.3 g), the cells thus created were then filled with transparent, opaque, and opalescent enamels in 14 colors. Each element required from 7 to 8 firings at temperatures of about 890°C. The hour circle, adorned with black-enameled Breguet numerals, frames a dial center hand-guilloched under translucent rose pink enamel. Unique piece created to celebrate Singapore’s 50 years since independence. 2015.
