Set of two Calatrava wristwatches with dials in cloisonné enamel.
Japanese floral motifs on the most beautiful traditional kimonos inspired the decorations on the dials of this limited edition in Grand Feu cloisonné enamel.
To create the contours of the stylized stems and flowers the enameler used 50 cm of gold wire (~0.45 g) per dial, measuring 0.1 x 0.4 mm in cross-section, which he cut into tiny sections and shaped by hand to follow every angle and curve. The harmony of the colors with their subtle gradations called for transparent, opaque, semi-opaque and opalescent enamels in some 15 colors. Each dial required 15 firings at temperatures ranging from 800°C to 840°C.
The bezel and the lugs are set with 112 brilliant-cut Top Wesselton Pure diamonds (~0.8 ct) and the prong buckle sparkles with 29 diamonds (~0.22 ct). Housed in a white-gold or rose-gold case, the caliber 240 ultra-thin self-winding movement may be admired through the sapphire-crystal back.
