Set of three Calatrava wristwatches with dials in cloisonné enamel enriched with gold or silver leaf.
Three of the most legendary players in the railroad epic of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries proudly display their plume of smoke on the dials of this limited edition in Grand Feu cloisonné enamel.
To create the contours of the bodywork, the chimneys, the wheels and the smallest technical details the enameler shaped by hand, depending on the dial, from 75 to 90 cm of gold wire (0.37 to 0.45 g) measuring 0.07 x 0.4 mm in cross-section. To convey volume and the reflections on the metal, he worked with a palette of transparent, opaque and opalescent enamels in from 8 to 27 colors. He also illuminated particular features by embedding silver or gold leaf beneath the enamel. Each dial required from 8 to 11 firings at temperatures ranging from 800°C to 850°C.
The white-gold case is endowed with a sapphire-crystal back protected by a hinged dust cover, affording a private view of the caliber 240 ultra-thin self-winding movement.
