Set of five minute-repeater tourbillon wristwatches with dials in miniature painting on enamel.

Old views of Geneva inspired the decoration of these five wristwatches in Grand Feu miniature painting on enamel, each one a unique piece.

The famous landmarks include St Pierre cathedral and the Grand-Quai, home to the historic Patek Philippe building, and are depicted here in a style reminiscent of azulejo, the famous blue and white glazed ceramic tilework that first appeared in Portugal and Spain in the sixteenth century. To create this unique trompe l’œil that even reproduces the relief of the tiles, the enameler painted each picture in monochrome, building it up in small deft touches with a range of blue oxides on a ground of white enamel. Each dial required from 10 to 15 firings at temperatures ranging from 800°C to 820°C – bringing the average enameling time to 100 hours.

The white-gold case houses the caliber R TO 27 manually wound movement with minute repeater and tourbillon or the caliber R TO 27 PS with the addition of small seconds, either of which may be admired through the sapphire-crystal case back. The watches also come with an interchangeable back in solid white gold.

The enameler’s techniques

The enameler uses one of four traditional techniques, or perhaps a combination; but rare is she – in the watchmaking world, most enamelers are women – who masters them all.
