Manual winding

Pocket watch with wood marquetry and hand-engraving.

The warm sheen of rose gold combined with a splendid work of wood marquetry celebrates one of the most majestic of forest inhabitants with its imposing antlers.

To reproduce this scene, drawn from life, with all the details of the stag and the foliage, the artist cut out and assembled 170 pieces of veneer and 70 inlays, chosen from 19 species of wood in a fine blend of autumnal colors. The bezel, the bow and the border of the case back are hand-engraved with a leaf motif requiring 120 hours of work. The dial in burr maple presents rose-gold applied Breguet numerals and rose-gold hands, the latter with hand-engraving. A garnet cabochon (0.36 ct) adorns the crown.

This pocket watch is accompanied by a rose-gold handcrafted stand with individually fashioned and engraved leaves, on an oval-shaped base in mookaite jasper set with a garnet cabochon (0.36 ct).

It houses the caliber 17’’’ LEP PS manually wound movement with small seconds.

The marquetry-maker

A miniaturist marquetry-maker is particularly deft, methodical, painstaking, and precise; he reads in the grain of the wood exactly what he will do with each tiny shape cut from that original leaf-thin veneer
