The Maisons Patek Philippe in China – homes away from home
The two Maisons in Beijing and Shanghai, together with the Patek Philippe Salons in Geneva, London, and Paris, are the only points of sale in the world that display the brand's entire current collection. They reflect the successful collaboration between Patek Philippe and the Melchers Group, a long-standing partner, and represent the history, philosophy, and values of the brand.
Inaugurated in 2012, the Maison Patek Philippe Shanghai is located at a prestigious address on the Bund, the esplanade along the Huangpu River, in the former British Consul's residence. The ground floor of the two-story Maison showcases the current timepiece collection, while the grand complications as well as the haute joaillerie and rare handcrafts models are on display on the upper floor. The Collectors Lounge is also located there, offering watch collectors and enthusiasts a haven in which they can share their passion.
The address of the Maison Patek Philippe Beijing, which opened in 2014, is Ch'ien Men 23 in the historic Legation Quarter of China's capital, now a district dedicated to art and culture. This makes it an ideal rendezvous point for China's quickly growing community of connoisseurs and aficionados of high-end watches. Here, they can enjoy the inspiring environment, talk about their fascination, and tap into the knowledge and competence of the staff members at the Maison Patek Philippe.
Gerdi Stern, Philippe Stern's wife and Thierry Stern's mother, was responsible for the tasteful ambiance inside the Maisons. Previously, she had already designed the interiors of the Patek Philippe Salons and of the Patek Philippe Museum. She was formidably successful in transposing the atmosphere of the Patek Philippe Salon in Geneva to the layouts of the Maisons Patek Philippe in Shanghai und Beijing, providing the manufacture with authentic signature homes away from home.
