Feminine grace combined with the delicacy of a floral decor featuring
hydrangeas, roses and chrysanthemums lends an Art Nouveau touch
to this unique piece in Grand Feu cloisonné enamel.
The enameler used 29.43 m of gold wire (32.7 g) measuring 0.15 x 0.6 mm in cross-section to outline these romantic images, before bringing them to life with transparent, opaque and opalescent enamels in 37 colors, reproducing every nuance of flesh tints, fabric and vegetation. The young girls’ dresses are made to shimmer by 61 yellow-gold spangles called paillons embedded in the enamel. Each enameled plate required 10 firings at a temperature of approximately 840°C. An hour circle in white mother-of-pearl adorned with applied Arabic numerals frames a dial center in cloisonné enamel.
