Children Action 2018 / Charity Auction

Patek Philippe has created a one-of-a-kind watch for Children Action 2018

Once again, the Genevan manufacture is participating in a Children Action auction by donating a unique watch created explicitly for this charitable event: the first and only titanium version of the Ref. 5524 Calatrava Pilot Travel Time.

This aviation-themed self-winding watch features a second time zone and a date display synchronized with local time. Its black dial is vertically satin-finished by hand and the sapphire-crystal case back bears the inscription “Children Action 2018”. The auction will be organized by Christie’s within the scope of the Children Action gala 2018 that takes place in Geneva on October 15, 2018. In May, the unique timepiece was exhibited in Geneva and Hong Kong.

The objective of the Geneva-based “Children Action” foundation is to provide hands-on assistance to children and adolescents regardless of their nationality, culture, and religion. True to its motto that “The first human right is to have a childhood,” the foundation manages various projects in several countries, such as the prevention of suicide among youngsters, offering psychosocial assistance and access to healthcare, education, and food, and support for children with cancer.

Launched in 2015, the Calatrava Pilot Travel Time is available in two versions in the current Patek Philippe collection: as the grande taille Ref. 5524 in white gold with a blue dial or in rose gold with a brown dial, and as the medium-sized Ref. 7234 in rose gold with a brown dial.

Ref. 5524T-010

This Calatrava Pilot Travel Time Ref. 5524T was created specially for Children Action. It is the first and only version of this timepiece ever produced in titanium, a metal rarely used for a Patek Philippe.

This unique piece features a silver-plated blackened dial, black gradated with hand satin-finished vertical motif. A vintage black calfskin strap echoes the dial color and decoration. The sapphire-crystal is marked with “Children Action 2018”.

The watch will be sold at auction during a charity event on 15 October 2018 in Geneva to benefit the Foundation.
