Patek Philippe Museum
Thematic Area Dedicated to Ref. 1938 - A Tribute Watch for Philippe Stern

Discover the Reference 1938, a tribute watch created in 2023 to celebrate the 85th birthday of Philippe Stern, president of the manufacture from 1993 to 2009 and current honorary president.

Thierry Stern (of the fourth generation of the Stern family, appointed president in 2009) decided to honor his father by creating a special limited edition of 30 watches, endowed with a brand-new movement developed solely for this timepiece and never to be used again.

The Reference 1938, sporting a platinum Officer’s style case, combines a minute repeater, Philippe Stern's favorite complication, with an exclusive acoustic function : an alarm chiming the programmed time. In further tribute to Philippe Stern, the 18K gold dial is adorned with his portrait in miniature painting.

The thematic area, located on the third floor of the Museum, allows you to discover this exceptional watch, as well as its movement, the Caliber R AL 27 PS. A film reveals the technical development of this complex and exclusive movement, comprising 561 components and having led to four new patents.
