Dome table clock in cloisonné enamel.
Patek Philippe plunged right to the heart of a rainforest to create the decoration on this unique piece in Grand Feu cloisonné enamel. All that is missing is the birdsong, the damp heat and the scent of the flowers.
The contours of the parrots and the lush vegetation required 21.8 m of gold wire (24.2 g) measuring 0.15 x 0.6 mm in cross-section, shaped by hand to follow every detail of the design before being fixed to the base plate. To fill in the cells created by those gold partitions, the enameler used finely ground, powdered enamels in 33 colors. While most of the colors were transparent, some were opaque or opalescent, to create a delicate glaze or a sense of depth. Each enameled plate underwent 9 firings at a temperature of approximately 840°C. An hour circle adorned with black enameled Breguet numerals frames a dial center in cloisonné enamel.
This piece is powered by the caliber 17’’’ PEND mechanical movement rewound by an electric motor.
