A Story of Independence
Anchored in Geneva and Switzerland
Since its founding, Patek Philippe has been expanding its footprint in Geneva and Switzerland - a historically rich and symbolic watchmaking soil.
Quai des Bergues
Origins of the Manufacture
The year 1839 marked the establishment of Patek, Czapek & Cie in Geneva. The first manufacture was located at 29 Quai des Bergues, on the right bank of the Rhône river. After Jean Adrien Philippe succeeded Czapek, the company relocated to number 15 on Quai des Bergues and was renamed Patek, Philippe & Cie.
Rue du Rhône
The Geneva Salon
It was in 1853 that Patek Philippe, needing larger premises as the firm grew, moved into two stories of a building on 41 Rue du Rhône. In 1996, what is now known as the Geneva Salon became a space solely dedicated to customers. Today, it showcases the entirety of the collection and perfectly reflects our watchmaking excellence and heritage.
La Jonction
Into Modernity
In 1964, on the Manufacture's 125th anniversary, a new building was inaugurated on 2 Rue des Pêcheries, located on the banks of the Rhône river. Patek Philippe took up the top four floors representing 550 square meters of the solidly constructed six-story building, which was as modern as the old factory was historic.
Rue des vieux grenadiers
The Patek Philippe Museum
In 1975, Patek Philippe acquired an industrial building at 7 Rue des Vieux Grenadiers, to install the Ateliers Réunis – a production unit for cases and bracelets where traditional Genevan goldsmithing techniques were perpetuated. After production was regrouped to Plan-Les-Ouates, the building was renovated and extended between 1999 and 2001. Since then, it has housed the world-renowned Patek Philippe Museum.
Chemin du Pont-du-Centenaire
Complete Integration
In 1996, Patek Philippe centralized its manufacture and headquarters in Plan-les-Ouates, Geneva. This move towards an even greater integration of operations marked the beginning of a new era. A new workshop dedicated to cases and bracelets was opened in nearby Perly in 2003, followed by a new facility in Plan-les-Ouates to produce movement components in 2010.
PP6
Building for the Future
Inaugurated in 2020, the new PP6 facility was designed to support the expansion of Patek Philippe over the next 20 to 30 years, safeguarding our independence for generations to come. With dedicated areas for Rare Handcrafts and internal training, PP6 reaffirms our Genevan heritage and commitment to blending watchmaking tradition with innovation.
Integrating for Independence
Strong Swiss Roots
Between 2001 and 2010, Patek Philippe further reinforced its verticalization by partnering with watch case manufacturer Calame & Cie, polishing expert Poli-Art SA, gem-setting specialist SHG and dial manufacture Cadrans Flückiger. In 2010, Patek Philippe opened new workshops in Le Crêt-du-Locle where Calame, Poli-Art, and SHG were relocated together, all under one roof.
