Pocket watch with back in cloisonné enamel and dial guilloched under enamel.
On this unique piece in yellow gold, the case back is adorned with a Grand Feu cloisonné enamel depicting a hummingbird hovering as it feeds on nectar.
Shaping the outlines of the bird and the flowers required 5.7 cm (0.04 g) of gold wire measuring 0.1 x 0.45 mm in cross-section, cut into 87 sections. The enameling called for 32 enamel colors, mostly transparent with some opaque or semi-opaque, and some 20 firings at temperatures ranging from 800°C to 840°C. The yellow-gold dial was hand-guilloched with a pattern recalling the structure of feathers and then coated with transparent orange enamel using the technique of flinqué enameling. An orange spessartine cabochon (0.4 ct) decorates the crown.
This pocket watch is accompanied by a yellow-gold handcrafted stand set with an orange spessartine cabochon (0.42 ct) and two pear-shaped orange spessartine cabochons (1 ct), on an oval – shaped base in spangled white marble.
It houses the caliber 17’’’ LEP PS manually wound movement with small seconds.
