Children Action 2018 / A Patek Philippe fetches a record price at auction

Patek Philippe Ref. 5524T-010
Ref. 5524T-010

A unique piece that Patek Philippe donated to the Children Action charity gala in 2018 was auctioned off for 2.3 million Swiss francs by Christie’s in Geneva on October 15. This record price will enable Children Action to strengthen its aid for children and adolescents regardless of their nationality, culture, or religion; the organization supports various projects in several countries around the world.

Patek Philippe is deeply committed to the creation of an exclusive timepiece for the Geneva-based foundation. Its motto is “The first human right is to have a childhood.” As the first and only titanium version of the Ref. 5524 Calatrava Pilot Travel Time, the unique piece for this fall also stands out with a black dial featuring a manually executed satin finish and the inscription “Children Action 2018” on its sapphire-crystal case back.

Inspired by aviation heritage, the self-winding watch has a second time zone and a date display coupled with local time. In the current Patek Philippe collection, the Ref. 5524 Calatrava Pilot Travel Time comes in two versions: the Ref. 5524 Grande Taille in white gold with a blue dial or in rose gold with a brown dial and the medium-format Ref. 7234 in rose gold with a brown dial.
