Embroidered flowers This limited edition of six watches in rose gold pays tribute to the lacemakers of Burano, who have made this Venetian island famous by the extraordinary finesse of their embroidery. The engraver began his work by lightly hammering the floral lacework pattern into some of the petals. The enameller then coated this decor with translucent enamel, calling on the traditional technique of champlevé enameling. To illuminate the pale pink petals in the design, he embedded silver leaf beneath translucent enamel according to the technique of paillonné enameling. Introducing color called for a palette of transparent and opaque enamels in 6 shades. Last, the picture received several finishing coats of flux, a transparent enamel, and the champlevé work was further refined with hand-engraving. Each dial required from 8 to 12 firings at a temperature of 760°C. The sapphire crystal was embellished with an embroidery motif inspired by the work of the lacemakers on the island of Burano and interpreted in hand-engraving, with meticulous attention to detail in the volutes. The bezel and lugs are set with 112 diamonds (~0.87 ct) and the prong buckle in rose gold sparkles with 29 diamonds (~0.24 ct). Dauphine-type hands in rose gold indicate the time. A calfskin leather strap in chocolate brown with a satin finish takes up the color palette of the dial. This watch is endowed with a caliber 240 ultra-thin self-winding movement, which may be admired through a sapphire crystal case back.
