Artistic ceilings
This unique piece in white gold draws inspiration from the decorations in stucco on Italian ceilings, particularly those found in Italian palaces dating from the Renaissance and Baroque periods.
The case back was first adorned with hand-executed guilloché work presenting a sunburst motif, destined to remain visible beneath translucent green enamel, according to the technique of flinqué enameling. The engraver then clad the enameled back with an applied ornament modeled to reproduce, with stunning realism, the roundness and volumes of the stucco volutes and shells that adorn historic Italian residences. This enamelwork called for 6 firings at a temperature of 765°C.
The bow was also shaped and fashioned by hand to harmonize with the decorations on the case back.
The dial, with its coating of opaque white enamel, recalls the color of the plaster used to mold stucco ornaments. Applied Breguet numerals and leaf-shaped hands, all in white gold, indicate the time. A tsavorite cabochon (0.28 ct) embellishes the crown.
This pocket watch is delivered with a stand in white gold surmounted by a shell lavishly finished with hand-engraving and resting on a base in white marble, set with a tsavorite cabochon (0.35 ct). It is also accompanied by a chain in white gold suspending a medallion decorated with a conch, also hand-engraved to achieve a heightened realism.
This piece houses the caliber 17’’’ LEP PS manually wound movement with small seconds.
