Tropical forest This limited edition of five pieces in Grand Feu cloisonné enamel conjures up the luxuriance of a tropical forest and brings out the extraordinary diversity of its foliage. To reproduce the exuberance of the virgin forest and the complexity of its vegetation the enameller first laid down about 16 m of gold wire (~24.48 g). Rendering the rich nuances of this imaginary jungle then called for a palette of transparent and opaque enamels in 12 colors. All these colors are subtle blends of greens, blues and blacks. The artisan’s great technical skill enabled him to obtain layered effects in monochromatic tones, creating the illusion of nature seen in relief. Each enameled plate underwent between 8 to 10 firings at a temperature of approximately 840°C. An hour circle, adorned with a gilt sunburst motif, presents applied Arabic numerals in lacquered blue, as well as gilt leaf-shaped hands. This piece is powered by the caliber 17’’’ PEND mechanical movement rewound by an electric motor.
