Legendary chords

This limited edition of ten watches, in rose gold with a dial in wood marquetry, draws inspiration from the iconic electric guitars that defined the sound of music as from the 1950s. It also pays tribute to the stars of rock and the blues that made these instruments famous.

The marquetry maker succeeded in reproducing with extraordinary precision all the elements that define these instruments, such as the strings, the bridge, the pickguard and even the name “Patek Philippe” reflected on the sides. To achieve this level of realism he cut out and assembled 336 tiny veneer parts and 18 even smaller inlays, together representing 17 species of wood of different colors, textures and veining, some of them directly relevant to the world of the guitar.

Dauphine-style hands in rose gold display the hours and minutes. A grained calfskin strap in caramel brown with a patinated finish takes up the color palette of the dial.

This watch is endowed with a caliber R 27 self-winding movement with minute repeater chiming on “cathedral” gongs. The architecture of this Grand Complication movement and the painstaking finishing touches lavished on its parts may be admired through a sapphire crystal back (interchangeable with a solid back in rose gold).
