Day of the Dead This limited edition of three watches in yellow gold reproduces the festive spirit and secular activities of the Chinese Qingming festival, devoted to the sweeping and cleaning of loved-ones’ tombs. It draws on a version, dating from 1736, of a scroll painting first executed by the artist Zhang Zeduan in the 12th century during the Song dynasty. The dial was first hand-engraved with a pattern of wavelets, before being coated with translucent blue enamel, creating the illusion of a river in motion. This decoration was then adorned with 8 colors of miniature painting on enamel to pick out the details of the people and architectural features in the original work, bringing the scene to life with extraordinary precision. The picture was then protected and its colors intensified with several layers of flux, a transparent enamel. Each dial required an average of 15 firings at temperatures ranging from 780°C to 830°C. The yellow-gold Golden Ellipse case contains a solid case back and harmonious proportions inspired by the ancient golden section. The hours and minutes are displayed by cheveu-style hands, stamped in yellow gold. This iconic watch houses a caliber 240 ultra-thin self-winding movement. The alligator leather strap in shiny green is endowed with a prong buckle in yellow gold reflecting the elliptical shape of the case.
