Beige Tartan

A cultural motif This limited edition of ten watches pays homage to tartan, a woolen cloth originating from Celtic peoples, for whom its motif denoted, in ancient times, the wearer’s social status or geographic origins. First, the dial was finely hand-guilloched with 2 motifs oriented in 4 different directions, using a straight-line engine lathe. Next, the enameller showcased the technique of flinqué enameling by allowing the crossing horizontal and vertical lines typical of tartan, fashioned from about 45 cm of gold wire (~0.4 g), to remain visible through the Grand Feu cloisonné enamel decoration. He then breathed life into the cloisons using translucent enamels in 6 colors to produce shading effects in the pattern, increasing the impression of the fabric’s relief. Each enameled plate required 15 firings at a temperature of 800°C. The rose-gold case contains a solid case back and harmonious proportions inspired by the ancient golden section. The hours and minutes are displayed by cheveu-style hands, stamped in rose gold. This watch houses a caliber 240 ultra-thin self-winding movement. The alligator leather strap in shiny dark gray is endowed with a prong buckle in rose gold reflecting the elliptical shape of the case.
