Golden Ellipse wristwatch with dial in cloisonné enamel enriched with miniature painting on enamel

Highland Citadel

Fortress in the mist This limited edition of fifteen watches in Grand Feu cloisonné enamel portrays Kilchurn Castle in Scotland, a ruined fortress dating from the fifteenth century on the banks of Loch Awe in Argyll. Picturesque and romantic, the site is known worldwide as the setting for an action film. The castle’s imposing silhouette shrouded in mist called for about 23 cm of gold wire (~0.16 g). To achieve the subtle nuances in the green tones of the leaves and the clusters of moss, the enameller worked with a palette of transparent, opalescent and opaque enamels in 28 colors. Miniature painting on enamel in 4 colors, executed with extreme finesse, lends a final refined touch to the foliage and the scene’s lakeside atmosphere. Each dial required from 8 to 10 firings at a temperature of 830°C. The white-gold case contains a solid case back and harmonious proportions inspired by the ancient golden section. The hours and minutes are displayed by cheveu-style hands, stamped in white gold. This watch houses a caliber 240 ultra-thin self-winding movement. The grained taurillon leather strap in leaf-green is endowed with a prong buckle in white gold reflecting the elliptical shape of the case.
