Donjons on the Cliff

Buffeted by the waves This limited edition of fifteen wristwatches in Grand Feu cloisonné enamel depicts Keiss Castle, built in the seventeenth century but now partially in ruins. Located in Caithness, Scotland, the fortress has a Z-shaped layout, characteristic of defensive structures in the Highlands. The outlines of the building pounded by the sea called for about 32 cm of gold wire (~0.22 g). To render the fury of the waves breaking against the cliffs and the stout walls of the fortress, which stands out against a leaden sky, the enameller worked with transparent and opaque enamels in 18 colors. Miniature painting on enamel in 6 colors intensified the lifelike quality of the scene, particularly notable in the finesse of the stonework, the foam on the heaving waves and the dance of the birds battling against the wind. Each dial underwent from 11 to 12 firings at a temperature of 820°C. The rose-gold case contains a solid case back and harmonious proportions inspired by the ancient golden section. The hours and minutes are displayed by cheveu-style hands, stamped in rose gold. This watch houses a caliber 240 ultra-thin self-winding movement. The grained taurillon leather strap in navy blue is endowed with a prong buckle in rose gold reflecting the elliptical shape of the case.
