Tigers in the jungle
This unique piece in yellow gold draws inspiration from the cotton cloth known as toile de Jouy, created in France in the eighteenth century.
The enameller began his work by outlining the scene on the case back. He then filled in these pouches using a white enamel that would serve as the base for his miniature painting on enamel. Working with a violet-blue shade of enamel he succeeded in perfectly rendering the majesty of the tigers while drawing inspiration from the elegant style of the toile de Jouy cloth. He then protected the decoration and intensified its color according to the Geneva technique with several layers of flux, a transparent enamel. The case band was also enameled throughout. This creation called for 11 firings at temperatures ranging from 780°C to 830°C. Finally, the piece was polished meticulously to lend the case a flawless brilliance.
The dial, in white enamel, was decorated with miniature painting on enamel in a violet-blue shade, and finished according to the Geneva technique with several coats of flux, a transparent enamel. Applied Breguet numerals and leaf-shaped hands, all in yellow gold, indicate the time. A tanzanite cabochon (0,32 ct) adorns the crown.
This pocket watch is accompanied by a yellow-gold stand embellished with three palm trees and set on an oval base in sodalite. It also comes with a chain in yellow gold decorated with a medallion in violet-blue enamel bearing a Calatrava cross.
This piece is powered by the caliber 17’’’ LEP PS manually wound movement with small seconds.
