A multicolored talking bird This limited edition of ten watches in rose gold gives center stage to an ara chloropterus, also known as the “green-winged macaw”, a species of parrot inhabiting the forests and cliffs of the northern half of South America. The complex motif of the plumage in Grand Feu cloisonné enamel called for about 39 cm of gold wire (~0.16 g). To conjure up the brilliant rainbow of tints in the bird’s feathers the enameller then worked with a palette of semi-opaque, transparent and opaque enamels in 54 colors, before accentuating this splendid display of gradations and plays of light and shade with 10 colors of miniature painting on enamel. Each dial underwent about 8 firings at temperatures ranging from 780°C to 850°C. The bezel, lugs and prong buckle are set with 58 rhodolites (~0.69 ct), 30 topazes (~0.24 ct), 25 rubies (~0.24 ct), 18 tsavorites (~0.13 ct) and 10 diamonds (~0.02 ct). Dauphine-style hands in rose gold indicate the time. An alligator leather strap in shiny cherry red takes up the color palette of the dial. This watch houses a caliber 240 ultra-thin self-winding movement, which may be admired through a sapphire crystal case back.
