The frenzied mariachi This limited edition of ten watches in white gold represents a mariachi, the musician emblematic of Mexican culture, who accompanies the Day of the Dead and generates its intoxicating rhythm. The dial was first hand-guilloched with a “plume” motif and then coated with translucent enamel, through which the decoration may be seen, according to the technique of flinqué enameling. Next, the enameller laid down all the contours of the Grand Feu cloisonné enamel of the skeletons’ skull using about 55 cm of gold wire (~0.37 g) and filled the cloisons thus created with transparent, opaque and semi-opaque enamels in 32 colors. A masterly play of gradations and vibrant colors and striking depth effects in translucent enamel breathes life into the scene vividly to life. Each dial underwent between 12 and 14 firings at temperatures ranging from 800°C to 840°C. The bezel is adorned with the famous Clous de Paris or hobnail pattern emblematic of the Patek Philippe style. Dauphine-style hands in white gold indicate the time. A calfskin strap in blue with a vintage finish and turquoise stitching, secured by a prong buckle in white gold, takes up the color palette of the dial. This watch is endowed with a caliber 240 ultra-thin self-winding movement, which may be admired through a sapphire crystal case back.
