The queen of the dead This limited edition of ten watches in rose gold draws inspiration from La Catrina, a character issuing from popular Mexican culture, symbolizing elegance and refined taste. With her picture hat and fine dresses Catrina is the queen of Mexico’s Day of the Dead festival. The dial was first hand-guilloched with a delicate pattern of intersecting arcs and flat diamond-shaped motifs, destined to remain visible beneath translucent enamel according to the technique of flinqué enameling. The enameller then traced the outlines of the Grand Feu cloisonné enamel skull, using about 53 cm (~0.36 g) of gold wire, and filled the cloisons thus created with transparent, opaque and semi-opaque enamels in 37 colors. Extensive work with gradations served to breathe life into this central character. Each dial required some 12 to 14 firings at temperatures ranging from 800°C to 840°C. The bezel is adorned with the famous Clous de Paris or hobnail pattern emblematic of the Patek Philippe style. Dauphine-style hands in rose gold indicate the time. A calfskin strap in peony red with a vintage finish and light-brown stitching, secured by a prong buckle in rose gold, takes up the color scheme of the dial. This watch is endowed with a caliber 240 ultra-thin self-winding movement, which may be admired through a sapphire crystal case back.
