Flamenco

Dancer under the spotlight This unique piece in yellow gold captures a bailaora, a flamenco dancer, performing under the spotlight, where her exaggeratedly long dress brings out the beauty of her movements. The case back was first adorned with a sunburst motif in hand-executed guilloche work, destined to shine through layers of translucent enamel. The cloisonné enamel required 50 cm of gold wire (~0.3 g) and a palette of transparent, opaque and semi-opaque enamels in 13 colors. Miniature painting in 5 further colors enabled the enameller to embellish the fan held by the dancer, showcasing all his mastery of his art. In total, the enameling on the case back required 20 firings at temperatures ranging from 760°C to 780°C. A floral frieze in hand-executed line engraving decorates the border of the case back, the bezel and the bow. The dial was also embellished with hand-executed guilloché work in a circular wavy pattern, shining through translucent red enamel according to the technique of flinqué enamel. Applied Breguet numerals and leaf-shaped hands, all in yellow gold, indicate the time. A red spinel cabochon (0.26 ct) adorns the crown. This pocket watch is delivered with a stand in yellow gold, decorated with a fan in plique-à-jour enamel, hand-engraved and set with a red spinel cabochon (0.11 ct). The stand’s oval base, in black obsidian, is set with a red spinel cabochon (0.35 ct). A chain in yellow gold suspending a hand-engraved medallion representing a fan accompanies the pocket watch. This piece houses the caliber 17’’’ LEP PS manually wound movement with small seconds.
